Eines der sehr interessanten Dinge am neuen iPhone ist die Tatsache, dass es dank des neuen von Apple implementierten Basisband-Chips sowohl in GSM- als auch in CDMA-Netzwerken funktioniert. Beim ersten Lesen der von Apple bereitgestellten Spezifikationen könnte man meinen, dass das Terminal problemlos in beiden Netzwerktypen eingesetzt werden kann, doch die Realität sieht anders aus. Die entschlüsselte Version des iPhone 4S funktioniert nur in GSM-Netzen, nicht jedoch bei CDMA-Betreibern. Daher können Sie kein entschlüsseltes iPhone 4S kaufen, um es bei anderen Betreibern zu verwenden.
Das entsperrte iPhone beinhaltet alle iPhone-Funktionen, jedoch ohne Vertragsbindung. Sie können es in dem unterstützten GSM-Mobilfunknetz Ihrer Wahl aktivieren und verwenden, beispielsweise bei AT&T in den USA.* Das entsperrte iPhone 4 oder iPhone 4S funktioniert nicht mit CDMA-basierten Mobilfunkanbietern wie Verizon Wireless oder Sprint.

Der Vorteil des „Welttelefons“ ist in diesem Fall praktisch nutzlos, da wir das iPhone nicht sowohl in GSM- als auch in CDMA-Netzen nutzen können und wir uns genau in der Situation des iPhone 4-Terminals befinden. Obwohl als Marketingstrategie die Informationen von Apple begeistert Käufer, die Realität sieht völlig anders aus und ich denke, dass Apple nicht so viel Wert auf die Vielseitigkeit des Terminals hätte legen sollen, da diese begrenzt ist.

este si normal sa fie asa, deoarece retelele cdma nu folosesc sim-uri… chipul pt world phone exista, dar daca nu este inregistrat intr-o retea cdma este inoperabil !…
mai exact iPhone 4S este world phone doar pentru cei din retelele cdma, deoarece au posibilitatea de a folosi sim-ul pe langa abonamentul existent… de aceea nu e deblocat telefonul pt acestia!
Apple NU a specificat pentru CDMA care sunt optiunile. Nu a spus daca poti folosi un SIM.
avantajul celor din retele cdma este ca pot folosi si sim-ul gsm… dar nu stiu daca in acelasi timp cu abonamentul!

Pai este WORLD Phone, doar ca nu poti folosii o retea CDMA fara sa ai abonament acolo… este simplu si NORMAL. La fel de normal este in momentul in care esti abonatul unei retele CDMA sa poti folosii si o retea GSM fara sa schimbi telefonul (defapt la asta sunt sigur ca s`au si referit cand au spus world-phone).
Deci, nu condamnati Apple pentru ca nu este vina lor, pur si simplu nu te poti folosii de o retea CDMA atata timp cat nu esti abonat.
Quote-ul meu din articol tot de pe site-ul meu este luat. Este vorba despre versiunea decodata a iPhone 4S, nu stiu daca versunea codata CDMA va functiona si pe GSM.
Este vorba de iPhone 4 “unlocked and contract-free. Coming in November”, nu de 4S. Scrie marunt dedesupt: “The unlocked iPhone 4 will not work with CDMA carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint.” Deci numai iPhone 4 vor fi puse in vanzare unlocked in USA.
Cat despre 4S (tot marunt, la nota de subsol 4 din Technical Specifications): “CDMA available only if iPhone 4S is sold and activated for use on a CDMA network”.
