The new Symbian, sneak peek

nokia-2010-symbian-600 Nokia announced the other day something that many have been waiting for years, the restyling of the Symbian operating system, used by tens of millions of phones around the world. We all know how hard it is to move phones that have Symbian installed, especially the high-end ones. The problem is not in the hardware of the phones, which is quite capable of running the system, but in the user interface, which is outdated and poorly made, requiring many steps to do simple things such as: open a song, view a picture, write an email, etc. Nokia announced that in the new version of Symbian that will be launched in 2010, they will introduce a whole series of new functions, such as: multitouch and capacitive screens, its absence being a big disappointment, at least from my point of view view, in the case of the launch of the N900 terminal. But that's not all, Nokia wants to "ease" the system, eliminating many of the steps that need to be done today to perform simple tasks, for example, the new system will offer: the possibility to listen to your favorite song in 2 steps instead of 8 as necessary today; creating an e-mail account in 2 steps instead of 4, etc.

Nokia, however, does not stop only at reconfiguring the way of working in the system, but will change the browser from the ground up to make it easier to surf the Internet and will optimize the UI, making it 3 times faster than it is now, something that will also to an extreme improvement of the scrolling speed, Nokia saying that it wants to reach a maximum of 60 fps compared to 15 as it is today.

Everything sounds very nice now, but there is still a long way to go, the pictures look good, the video looks interesting, but only when the new system is put into practice will we really be able to see how it behaves.
