SpeedTraps – warns you when you reach an area with radars equipped with cameras

SpeedTraps is an application for iPhone / iPod Touch made by a Romanian company AROBS Transilvania Software and it can be extremely useful for speeding drivers because it gives them the opportunity to use the application to be warned when they enter an area where there are fixed speed cameras equipped with video cameras.

SpeedTraps warns you about speed cameras using data from the website poiplaza.com and this whole process requires the phone to be connected to the Internet, otherwise the position on the map is determined by Google Maps which requires an internet connection to display the map or if you want you can download maps with the program OpenStreetMaps and you can copy them to your phone to be used with SpeedTraps. An interesting feature of the application is the possibility to manually add cameras directly from the application, but this function requires knowing the exact coordinates.

SpeedTraps is only available for a limited number of countries in the European Union: Austria, France, Great Britain, Romania and Hungary, although the pictures show images of cities from the USA.

Here are the SppedTraps features:

– audio and visual warning when approaching a speed camera
-offline speed camera location database containing United Kingdom, Austria, France, Germany, Hungary and Romania
-shows speed camera on the map (requires internet connection)
-adding and editing of new hotspot locations

SpeedTraps it seems to be an interesting application, it would be much better if it allowed the addition of files containing the points of interest, possibly the maps of the countries through which we navigate, but maybe they will appear in a future version of the application.

The best thing at SpeedTraps is the fact that it is free and you can download it from AppStore from here. Congratulations to the team of Romanians from Cluj-Napoca and I hope that in future versions they will add as many functions as possible.
