geohot urges patience while waiting for a jailbreak solution

Visibly fed up with so many questions (and probably rightfully so) Geohot he asked those who expect a solution from him jailbreak to stop asking him about the release date of the respective solution because they will not receive any answer and certainly will not rush the release date. At the same time, geohot made it clear that it is currently working, so this could also be an explanation for the long pauses between the answers on Twitter.

Actually, it's not even the first time he says this, but the world has been waiting for 2 months for a jailbreak solution for 3.1.3 firmware and fed up with so much deception, they want a solution for their phones as soon as possible. Some have asked countless times if they will be able to decode iPhoneURLs with baseband 05.12.01, the answer is NO, the solution for decoding will appear next summer iPhone OS 4.0 end.

At the same time, take into account the fact that a penfru jailbreak solution 3.1.3 firmware it might not appear at all considering the short time between releases iPad 3G in the USA and the keynote Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), from June.

  1. @zaone: You said in a post, like JB, it also has minus points, the non-functioning of some applications and stuff, why do people keep asking for JB? I still understand those with BB lock, that they buy coded phones from outside, I don't know what the price difference is, seeing that even the ones from Orange with a subscription are not big.

  2. @FiatLux: Doing the math, you get almost double on a subscription phone, the lowest Orange subscription is 19 euros, i.e. 100 lei per month, in 24 months you have a minimum of 2400 lei plus the price of the phone of 1400 lei = 3800 lei minimum, almost 1000 euros on a phone that costs 2400 lei free of charge. Well, it's normal for people to prefer to pay between 1500-2000 lei for a new one, brought from abroad and to stay after the jailbreak.
The second reason is piracy, cracked applications ready to download at anyone's discretion, how many do you think have the money to buy every game/application/navigation software that appears?

  3. @damn: I haven't updated to 4.0 beta, until now because I think it's better to wait and not change my baseband because something might appear... from the above it means that for 05.12.01 unlock will not appear, but it will appear for the final baseband from OS 4.0, right? Or it will be unlocked for 05.12.01 in OS 4 through custom firmware (ie to maintain the baseband).

What you say is it worth updating to OS 4 beta 3 (when it will appear, the current version is not worth it).

  4. @cond0r: I have said for a long time that bb 05.12.01 will not be decoded and in OS 4 there is already another baseband, so there is no point in decoding one that disappears in a month anyway. I did not update to beta 2 because it is not good for anything.

  5. @zaone: Wait, what calculations are you doing for me there?:)) Well, once, I need a subscription, where I can have minutes, sms, all the stuff. I did not change my subscription to buy the iPhone. Then I got a 10 euro data plan with 4 GB per month. Which you REALLY need. When I see people with iPhones, who do not have a data subscription, and are only at the mercy of a Wi-Fi, it honestly leaves me perplexed. I mean, stay like this, you would pay 400 euros, as you say it costs abroad, but you don't have 40 lei a month to have internet when you want, to be able to use this phone when you need it, not when you find a Wi-Fi . Plus, such an expensive phone, not to have a warranty on it... it seems like a big donkey to me. In my opinion, everyone does as they wish. There is a saying, cheap is expensive. And this is perfectly true.

  6. Are we too poor to buy cheap things? LOL!

It seems logical to me that geohot will publish the jailbreak and unlock solutions only after the release of the new iPhone with final OS 4, from the end of June. What sense would it make to give the apple engineers the vulnerability he found to be repaired by them until the new firmware 4.0 appears. 🙂

  7. @FiatLux: Tell me if this subscription : http://www.orange.ro/iphone/oferta-ro.html worth 19 euros. Let's add, let's say, 12 euros for 2GB of traffic (although I don't know if it's possible) and another 8 euros for an option with minutes on the network, and how much do we get? 40 euros per month? Now, let's be serious, if I have 350 euros a month, I'm not really that crazy to spend 40 on a subscription.
Due to the 2 bani subscriptions from Orange, I chose to spend 550 euros on it and take it free.
One other thing, in order to get an iPhone subscription, you have to sign up for a new subscription with a new phone number and all the necessary equipment.

  8. @zaone: Excuse me, I can afford it, but at least this time, you are speaking in ignorance of the cause. I'll tell you this much, I have a subscription of 12 euros per month, which includes 1100 minutes on the network, about 250 sms and about 200 minutes on the other networks. Plus 10 euros 4 GB data subscription, if I exceed 4 GB, my download speed decreases. I paid 3 euros on the phone when renewing my 230G subscription, if I bought a 3GS it would cost me 400. I also have a 2-year warranty. SO: CONCLUSION: RENT THAT.
Because in my opinion, having an iPhone and not having a data subscription that will last you the whole month, you are not doing anything, you have it for fun.

  9. @FiatLux: If you also tell me which subscription it is about and if it is found in the current offer, if not then it is irrelevant which subscription you have and which loyalty you have made. I told you about the official iPhone subscription and you told me about yours, the connection?
Yes, it is true that the iPhone without a data subscription is equal to zero, but it depends on everyone's needs, I manage with 500 MB, although the price of the offer seems unreasonably high to me.

  10. @zaone: I also told you last time with the data subscription, go to the Orange Shop and see what the offer for the data subscription is, leave what is written on their page, the convenience is sometimes paid, or at least call 415 and vb with those there. As for my subscription, it is still the same now, you do a dolphin subscription of 12 euros + 10 euros of data=22 => a 3G for 239 euros with a 2-year extension or a 3GS for 400 euros + 2 years warranty. To pay 12 euros per subscription for what they offer seems to me a super ok price, maybe the data one could be lower, but I'm not complaining about that either.

  11. @FiatLux: The dolphin never had SMS, I wanted to switch to it too and gave up, the subscription looks something like this: http://orange.ro/abonamente-de-voce/delfin/delfin-12/ so different from what you have, maybe you were given an offer for loyalty and you have certain things in addition. I'm not interested in another internet option, the one I have is enough for me.
Otherwise, you still didn't answer me if you would pay 19 euros per month for the official iPhone subscription, regardless of your subscription, tell me if you would pay 19 euros per month for an official iPhone subscription and get an iPhone 3GS for 349 euros with that 2-year subscription.

  12. I see that you are arguing about subscriptions, from what I managed to read between the lines. I will tell you my case below, absolutely new subscription, without points or porting from other networks. It's a 3GS, 16GB, 1100 min in orange, 300 national, 100 national sms + unlimited internet (ie 6GB, after which the speed drops... That's what they mean by unlimited 🙂 ). The subscription costs me 25 euros/month, approx. 100 lei, and I bought the phone for 1060 RON, in March if I didn't say above, for 2 years

Regarding jb, I'm waiting to get the most out of the iPhone, for example to save an attachment, or to send any file, not just pictures, attached to an email, to feel like I have bluetooth, not to laugh at my colleagues at the office because I have an iPhone and I can't even send a picture, etc

I greet you and I hope that I have clarified as much as possible regarding the price of an iPhone bought from us with a warranty and with a subscription, especially for data...

  13. @zaone: It's true that SMS is not included on the website, as I told you before, go to the Orange Shop or call 415 🙂

@radu_h: I already feel weird, you came out better than me :)

  14. You displayed your subscriptions, you recommended me to go to Orange FiatLux, but none of you told me if they would pay 19 euros for the special iPhone subscription, and please answer this question, I'm not interested in another subscription/option internet or something else.

  15. question: is it possible to unlock iPhone 3G (8Gb) with firmware 3.1.3 and baseband 05.12.01? I want to mention that it has a jailbreak and it works, but it does not recognize the card from other mobile phone companies (eg vodafone). If I put an Orange France card in it, can I unlock it? Thank you

  16. @zaone: But I don't understand one thing, why are you tied to that special iPhone subscription of 19 euros? when it's very easy to get an iPhone at a good price with a Delfin subscription of 12 euros + one for data, to reach somewhere between 22-25 euros per month.

Off topic: would it be worth selling my 3G now? In the sense that, after the release of the new model, will the price drop significantly for 3G?

  17. @eugen1: Read the article and you will find the answer to the question.
@FiatLux: I relate to that one because at the launch that will be the subscription that will be reduced the most, the rest will take a back seat, I saw last year how Orange works. But because you avoided answering me 3 times and said that Delfinul is better, I understand that you would not pay 19 euros for the special iPhone subscription.
Yes, 3G prices will drop in the summer, anyway in the summer the prices of all electronics drop.

  18. @zaone: Wait, I didn't understand your reference to the special iPhone subscription. I was referring to those who now or a few months ago took their iPhone from abroad. Now I understand that you are referring to the launch of the new iPhone, in this situation I would think a lot about giving 12 euros for the voice + 19 for the special iPhone, it's true it's a bit much.

  19. @zaone: I don't think so, 90% no, I'd rather buy the more expensive iPhone. 2 small clarifications, however, in order to get loyalty (subscription extension), the data subscription is not mandatory for 2 years, it is 1 year, that's what I did (but I'm not going to give it up ever, just change it if the better offer appears). The other clarification, at the launch of the new iPhone, not even brought from outside, will be very cheap in my opinion. It remains to be seen in the summer what will happen to the new phone, and the offers that Orange will have :)

  20. @eugen1: "Some have asked countless times if they will be able to decode iPhones with baseband 05.12.01, the answer is NO, the solution for decoding will appear in the summer after the final iPhone OS 4.0."
Should I write in red? Should I put it in bold?

  21. Sry for answering you so late. 10 euro option with 4 GB included. So to speak, when I got the iPhone, they shoved this option down my throat. Eventually he calls and says that you don't need 6 GB, that 4 is enough and to make you an offer. You have to be persistent and "decisive" when dealing with those from 415.

  22. @FiatLux: You probably have the impression that I'm a lazy person who doesn't know how to talk, at least that's what appears from some of the comments made so far.
Anyway, I had to insist on checking if there is any data option for the voice subscriptions and after he told me about this, he said that I have to sign a contract for that option and I don't want that, please I assume that I have to lose a waiting in line in an Orange Shop for some relatively accurate information. Orange is DUST when it comes to customer service.

  23. @zaone: Far be it from me to think you're lazy, I was just saying how to make something work at Orange, in fact, that's how everything works in Romania. Well, to conclude a contract for 1 year, I guess. And when you change your subscription, or you pick up the loyalty card, it's clear that you're signing a contract for 1 or 2 years. This also happens in the rest of the countries, not just here.
