How to install Android on iPhone

[vimeo] http://vimeo.com/11189252 [/ vimeo]

This week I introduced you to the first one video lesson cu Android OS 1.6 running on one iPhone 2G and now I present to you the first video tutorial that teaches those willing to test how AndroidOS come to terms with iPhoneCPC.

This video is DONATE for those with advanced knowledge of linux and DONATE for those who have one iPhone 2G, it's the only device it works on at the moment Android- but intensive work is being done on its porting iPhone 3G and on iPod Touch-hate.

In addition to the video you can find here an extremely well-structured tutorial with all the steps that must be followed to install successfully Android OS 1.6 pe iPhone 2G, but I come back with the warning not to start installing Android if you do not have advanced knowledge of linux, also please do not ask me how you can install more simply or any other questions related to installation because I do not have a iPhone 2G on which to test Android.

The process is quite complicated and I do not foresee a simplification of it too soon, however if it will be ported to iPhone 3G who would like to test it?

  1. @sadd: No one mentions the iPhone 3GS anywhere, I have the impression that it is too difficult to port to the iPhone 3GS due to the security implemented by Apple. I would also be interested in installing it on the 3GS, but I doubt that I will be able to, maybe it will work on the HD.

  2. well, it's the same operating system, the differences are on the hardware side, if they're going to implement it on the 3gs, I doubt that they can't make it work on the ipad, especially since it's the next big thing in the apple universe

  3. of course, I specified hardware differences, but I doubt that it is not possible to scale the image, or at least I don't think it is too difficult, what was more difficult (the actual running of the system) has passed, I for one hope that it also appears on the ipad.

  4. Android can be installed on just about anything, including the iPad. It doesn't matter the size of the screen, the OS has several integrated resolutions to be able to run on any screen. Hardware support (drivers, connections with other components) and of course passing the security barriers is more complicated.

I've been searching for a long time on the net how to install Android on iPhone, but I haven't found anything - until now. I am quite interested in this concept of Dual Boot, I have an iPod nano 2nd generation on which I installed Rockbox and now I can also watch movies on it.

  5. @FiatLux: Well, I also asked a question, maybe you can answer me, it's in the article about geohot and the exhortation to be patient.
They had a lot of problems with the WiFi (me included), after updating to OS 3.0 in the summer and jailbreaking with redsn0w, the WiFi no longer saw any network, I didn't find a solution and I had to sell the 3G. In others, it connects when to WiFi networks, works sporadically or cannot be activated at all.

  6. I installed android on 2g.
I followed the tutorial and I have some observations. If you want to do it yourself, there is no danger, you can always restore. Do not use WinSCP to copy the files, it gave me an error, (it stops at baseband load...) I copied again with FileZilla and it was ok. At some point su ./oibc must be given. Well, it only worked for me with sudo ./oibc – may help someone stuck there.
    So... some impressions:
    - although in the tutorial it says that it loads hard, it loads at the same time with Iphone OS with winterboard.
    - it has 4 icons on the desktop (messaging, Dialer, Contacts, Browser) and a menu-type button.
    - you can call, be called, send and receive sms
    - the camera, the music, the video recorder do not work - they all ask to insert the SD card.
    - wifi worked from the first
-shows battery level, signal, Wi-Fi signal
-it seems not to use the accelerometer

I'll write later, because I have to go home.
ask if you have any curiosity.
