iPhone 4 has a bootrom that can be easily exploited

Planetbeing, the member of the Dev Team that deals with the development of the jailbreak solution for iPhone 4 using a userland exploit discovered by comex, has announced today that the iPhone 4 bootrom can be exploited in such a way that the jailbreak solutions work regardless of the firmware installed in the phone. Basically, they could make a jailbreak program for the iPhone 4 that would work on any firmware for the iPhone 4 without having to look for new exploits after each firmware update released by Apple.

Considering what planetbeing said, we can expect Apple to modify the bootrom in the iPhone 4 as it did last year with the iPhone 3GS and probably from the fall we will see the iPhone 4 with a new bootrom, perhaps impossible to exploit, that is to say reaches the situation that iPhone 3GS owners with a new bootrom now have.

For now, the exploit is in the works and we will definitely see it released at some point for iPhone 4 owners, but I hope that the Dev Team will not make this release until after iOS 4.1, as they intended to do last year with the iPhone 3GS. For now, geohot does not intend to work on a jailbreak solution for iPhone 4, but I suspect that he will do it somewhere around July and will release it publicly, as he did last year.
