About the new Apple Battery Charger

Among the products launched yesterday by Apple is also Apple Battery Charger, a battery charger, which seems to be a new "revolutionary" Apple brand product. The charger comes with 6 AA batteries made by Apple, batteries that according to the company keep their storage capacity even after hundreds of charges. Among Apple's specifications, there was also quite interesting information: even if you leave such a battery charged for 1 year in a drawer, it will only lose 20% of the stored energy, so after 1 year of being in the drawer it will have 80% of the energy initial.

The Apple Battery Charger sets a new industry standard: It has the lowest standby power usage value - or "vampire draw" - of any similar charger on the market. That's the energy most chargers continue to draw after their batteries are fully charged. But the Apple Battery Charger senses when its batteries are done charging and automatically reduces the amount of power it needs.

Another very important aspect is the energy consumed by the charger after the batteries left in it have been charged, so that the Apple Battery Charger will consume only 30mW/h (milliwatts/hour) after the batteries have been charged, unlike a normal charger that consumes almost 10 times more. This consumption is called "vampire draw" and Apple boasts the lowest post-charge consumption for a battery charger.

The Apple Battery Charger costs only 29$/€ and, from my point of view, it is an interesting product that should not be left in the shadow of the iMac/Macs or the Magic Trackpad.
