Samsung Galaxy Tab – the first internet tablet from Samsung

Samsung Galaxy Tab is a new internet tablet that will be launched by Samsung in a few months and will compete with Apple's iPad tablet. The new tablet from Samsung will run Android 2.2 Froyo, it will most likely have an AMOLED screen and it will look exactly like the image above, which is quite unusual. Today, the first information regarding the hardware specifications of the tablet appeared, the information was "collected" from the first firmware for the Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab tablet and it looks something like this:

  • Screen resolution 480×800;
  • Camera Max resolution 2048×1536;
  • Camcorder Max resolution 2048×1536. (Not sure about this info);
  • Front cam Max resolution 240×320;
  • CPU Profile ARM11;
  • CPU Core S5PC110;
  • CPU speed 1.0GHz;
  • flash player;
  • GPS. (Google Maps);
  • WIFI;
  • SyncML support;
  • swipe;
  • JavaScript 1.5;
  • Bluetooth (Don't know the version yet).

I for one don't call it an iPad killer yet because it's months away from launch and a lot can still change, but only on the hardware side. The rectangular shape would have represented a great big advantage if it had other dimensions, more precisely if it was wider it would have been perfect for surfing the Internet, watching movies, playing games, but in its current form it seems to me to be more of an attempt at internet tablet than something else. I don't think there will be many buyers for this tablet, but that's just my opinion.

  1. It's a kind of ostrich camel. Which form lends itself to movies? what movies, "stan si bran" or slides? It's neither 4/3 nor 16/9. A mess of resolution anyway. And "flashplayer" at 1GHz, let them look in Korea, if they have patience.

  2. Yes, there are many things that make a product a real success or a disaster. In addition to the hardware and OS configurations, they seem to me to be by far the best at idevices, there are certain details that make you think that the people who developed these products had already finished their work and had the time to do something more.

    I spent 2 hours in an orange store with a samsung galaxy s in my hand and I kept buttoning it and I couldn't convince myself to give up my current 3Gs with ios 4.01. Apart from the desktop, I haven't found any transition animation from one screen to another, you say it's from the axe, and as games the biggest game (real racing) has 27 mega. What textures sound in that game, how is it optimized considering that the same game for iPhone has 250 megabytes...

    As a tablet, nothing will compare to the iPad. And since you're a bit resourceful, you get a camera connection kit, together with a few lines of code, you made it 32, 48, 64 Gb.

  3. an ntsc dvd (wide) has a resolution of 720×480 rap e 1,50

    an HD (ready) has 1280x720, the ratio is 1,77

    this tablet has 800×480 with a ratio of 1,66, that's why I said it's good for movies, it fits all resolution ratios, except 640×480 (standard resolution 4:3), which means it's not good for the chest and back...

  4. I also played on a galaxy s for a few days, I bought it for a friend and kept pressing it, it is inferior to 3gs in terms of response time and touchscreen, to open an application it takes quite a long time, maybe even the difference between 3G and 3GS (I hope I'm not exaggerating, but you get the idea), the screen is really cool, over 3GS, but just like marius, I have the impression that they haven't released applications to use it to the maximum.

    as the specifications of the tablet are similar to those of the phone and having some experience with the operating system, I honestly doubt that it will be close to the ipad killer. it's hard to do something simple and useful.

    not to mention, the layout of the applications and many other things are strikingly similar to those of Apple (in the case of the iPhone)
