Steve Jobs does not believe in the success of iTV

According to some sources close to those of Apple, it seems that CEO Steve Jobs is not convinced that the new iTV will be a successful product like the iPhone or iPad due to the fact that people are not yet ready to cancel their subscriptions with cable television and switch to content retrieved from the web. To be honest, Steve Jobs is right, people will not cancel their TV subscriptions to switch to iTV, something that is not foreign to Apple considering that the old Apple TV had very low sales. Regardless of whether the product would have been successful or not, the fact that Steve Jobs shows his disdain for it right now is an alarm signal for potential customers who might give up on its purchase.

Even with the refresh, Jobs isn't convinced the new version will be a mainstream hit, says the person familiar with Apple's plans. Most consumers aren't ready to cut the cord to their cable company, or put up with the tech-nastics required to stream content from the iTunes collection on their PC to their living room big-screen TV. In other words, it's a product that at best will delight some of the "hobbyists" that have always been interested in the product.

Apple negotiated with the major American television networks to offer customers TV shows for only 99¢ a piece plus a device for $99, but considering Steve Jobs' attitude towards the product, it is possible that iTV will be a failure as well speaker like Apple TV. I don't even understand why Apple is involved in such technologies considering that at the moment the iPhone/iPad are the products that should be in the center of attention, only they bring the highest revenues to the company.
