Does Recognition on iPhone?

Today there was a rumor indicating that Apple might have bought a Swedish company that develops software for facial recognition. The company is called Polar Rose and has been working for several years on the development of software that will allow you to recognize a person by simply pointing the camera lens at his face. The main product of the Polar Rose company is called FaceCloud and it allows the identification of a person using the camera of a phone and based on the image obtained, the phone displays information about the respective person's accounts on social networks. You can see a demonstration of this product in the video clip above, where a small test of the Recognizr application is made, which has implemented all the functions mentioned above. The president of the company refused to comment on the rumor, however find that Apple bought all the shares of the company today.

The Malmö-based company specializes in developing technology which makes facial recognition, not unlike what Apple already has and uses iPhoto for Mac OS X. Through sophisticated algorithms, manages the software of the Arctic Rose to recognize faces in images and the company offers three different products using this solution. Two of them (Face Cloud and FaceLib) seem to be very interesting for Apple.

Company CEO Carl Silbersky would today not comment on the affair.

"I don't know what this is about," he says, and would otherwise not give any comments.

The same information comes from the company's Chief Technology Officer Jan Erik Solem. Other sources close to the Polar Rose, however, confirm that the deal is, if not completely, at least in the final stage. News Service Rapidus claims to have gotten over the board meeting from the beginning of the month in which it appears that Apple is now the sole owner of the company.

The implementation of such technology on iDevices would have a rather strong impact on users and would certainly revolutionize the way we socialize online. Apple has always been known for its "revolutionary products" so it is possible to see these software implemented in a few years on our iDevices.
