In the last 3 days, quite a lot of new information appeared regarding the new jailbreak solution, so a small summary of all the information explained in the previous articles must be made. Before I do that, I remind you again DO NOT UPDATE to iOS 4.1 because you will update the baseband to version 05.14.02 and for now there is no decoding solution for it. If you want to update to iOS 4.1 and keep the old baseband, then wait for PwnageTool for iOS 4.1.
Here is the most important information about the new jailbreak solution based on the SHAtter exploit and probably called greenp0ison:
- it will work ONLY with iPad, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G! The other terminals will not be able to be jailbroken using this new jailbreak solution;
- will untethered jailbreak for these 3 terminals, meaning you will not have to repeat the jailbreak process after resetting the terminal;
- will do hacktivation for iPad and iPhone 4, so you will not need universal cards or operator cards on which the terminals are coded;
- the jailbreak solution will be released on October 10, 2010 at 10:10:10 GMT, that is Sunday at 13:10 Romanian time.
This is the most important information you need to know. If you have an iPhone3GS or an iPod Touch 3G (new bootrom) then you will have to wait for an alternative jailbreak solution and PwnageTool could help you in this situation, but for now there is no information about the compatibility of this program. For iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G you can jailbreak iOS 4.1 using this tutorial. iPod Touch 2G with new bootrom will have a tethered jailbreak.
