"Have you ever found yourself looking for an ATM nearby, a non-stop pharmacy or a fast food restaurant with cheap shawarma? The UrboPEDIA application for iPhone allows you to find all these places and many others, in all the big cities in Romania, with the help of your iPhone.
UrboPEDIA is the first application in Romania that offers the "check-in" option. The application uses the database of the Urbo.ro website, thus benefiting from over 80.000 profiles available for check-in. Check-in is the simple and easy method by which you inform your friends that you are in a certain place and is available for any kind of business. UrboPEDIA is developed to share your check-ins with your friends on Urbo.ro and to publish them on Facebook whenever you want.
Facilities offered by UrboPEDIA:
- access to a database with over 800 business categories from Bucharest, but also other cities in the country: Brasov, Sibiu, Cluj, Timisoara, Arad, Iasi, Constanta, Ploiesti and Galati, with more cities to be added in soon;
- access to the complete profile of the business on the Urbo.ro website;
- you use the phone's GPS to locate businesses near you and position them on the map;
- you rate and write opinions about the businesses whose services you have accessed and share your experiences with other users;
- you add companies to the list of "Favorites", which means that you can view their profile even when you no longer have access to the Internet in the future;
- you can check-in at any type of business and announce this on Facebook;
- you become the King/Queen of the business where you checked in the most times."
UrboPEDIA is, in my opinion, the perfect application to search for almost any type of company in your city. The application works through the website urbo.ro, that is, it has access to a database where you can find almost anything that interests you in your city. I made a comparison between the UrboPEDIA application and the Let's go out application, but the latter is much more limited in terms of the number of options and the points of interest available in the database. Another interesting thing at UrboPEDIA is the check-in, i.e. a function identical to FaceBook Places, which will give you the opportunity to share your current location on FaceBook so that your friends know where they can find you.
UrboPEDIA it's free in the AppStore, it's compatible with iOS 4, it knows how to multitask and I say it's worth a try.
