42% of the security patches in Mac OS X 10.6.5 are for flash

Yesterday Apple launched Mac OS X 10.6.5, the latest update for the famous operating system, which solves over 140 of the problems reported by users in connection with Mac OS X 10.6.4. This update is mostly dedicated to solving security problems and 42% of all solved problems are related to flash. Yes, you read that right, almost half of the security problems solved were related to flash and this makes us understand why Apple decided not to install it on the new MacBook Air. A few days ago the president of Adobe tried to DEFEND flash against the media attack related to the fact that using this plugin on the MacBook Air reduces battery life by up to 30%, but now it will probably have to explain why Apple devoted so many resources to solving these problems since flash it's so great.

So you'll forgive me if when Kevin Lynch announces all these great-sounding things about Flash that are just around the corner, I'm highly skeptical. How long have we been promised Flash on mobile devices? 5 years? It's still not where it needs to be. Hell, it's not where it needs to be on the desktop.

Those from TechCrunch they are right when they say that flash is not yet ready for mobile terminals and probably will never be ready for mobile terminals, but I as a user would like to have the possibility to decide when and how I want to use it. Apple tries to protect its products, but my opinion is that it tries too hard.
