2 days ago we announced that the AppStore exceeded the threshold of 300.000 available applications and we are talking here about the applications actually available in the store and not the ones accepted until now. 300.000 is an extremely large number considering that the AppStore has existed for only 2 years and keeps the AppStore at the top of the online application stores. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to these 300.000 applications because that number only applies to the American AppStore.
In Italy, France and Great Britain, for example, only 250.000 applications are available in the AppStore, and in Australia only 200.000. This difference is explained by the fact that in the AppStore there are certain applications specially made by some companies that have an interest in that application being available only in the AppStore of a certain country. Some applications bring to iDevices certain paid services that are only available in certain countries, so it is normal that the respective applications are only available in those countries.
Apple promotes the wrong AppStore from my point of view, in fact when it says at the keynotes that it has x hundreds of thousands of applications, it omits to say that those applications are only available in the US AppStore and not everyone has access to them.
