SpeedClock estimates the speed of objects around you

SpeedClock is a new application for iPhone/iPod Touch that estimates the speed of objects around us. Practically, this application turns our iDevice into a radar because according to the developer, it can estimate the speed of cars or any objects regardless of size. All you have to do is point the terminal's camera at the object whose speed you want to know and the application will display it on the screen in a few seconds. The application would use a motion detection system to estimate the speed, but I, for one, am a bit circumspect about the accuracy of the displayed data.

Employing the device's three-axis gyro and basic trigonometry establishes distance. Speed and laps are measured using the motion sensing of the video camera, timing the interval between the object entering and leaving the frame. The app is compatible with iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4, and iPod touch 4.

The application is available in the AppStore for only €0.79 and works only on iPhone 3GS/4 and iPod Touch 3G/4G. Is it worth the money? I find it hard to believe..
