In Romania there is only one operator that has special subscriptions for the iPhone, Orange Romania, but the situation will change soon because Vodafone and Cosmote plan to launch the iPhone 4 by the end of this year. Orange Romania has only 2 types of subscriptions available for iPhone 4: Panterna 29 and Pantera 49. Of course, these subscriptions are not mandatory but only optional, but they are the only option for a person who wants to purchase an iPhone together with a special subscription.
I've never had a special iPhone subscription from Orange, and to be honest I don't even want one, because I didn't need it, but I've been waiting for more than a year for Orange to introduce some mobile internet options into its offer worthy of consideration. We all have plenty of minutes and SMS, but the iPhone is a device that requires an internet connection for 50% of its functions and at the moment no operator in Romania has mobile internet options that are worth the money.
Orange has the 2 very expensive "antique" options, the MySmartphone option, which from my point of view is absolutely not worth the money, and the new Net News line which is mainly useful for those who visit certain sites using the Orange portal as a point of access starting. The situation is not different at Vodafone and at Cosmote it is even worse, but Cosmote is only now "arranging" its 3G network. Digi Mobil has by far the best mobile internet offer, but unfortunately coverage is lacking in many areas of Romania.
Practically, for me, the mobile internet offer would lead me to leave Orange for another operator, but at the moment I have nowhere to go because they have all capped at the same level.
