The failures of Cosmote and Vodafone operators at the iPhone 4 launch in Romania

Today, many of the Cosmote, Germanos and Vodafone stores opened in anticipation of customers to purchase the iPhone 4 terminal launched just a few hours ago. Both operators tried to make the best possible offers to attract as many new customers/sales as possible, but in the end only one of them managed to amaze and no, it's not Vodafone. But in this article we are talking about failures, more precisely about 2 that will weigh a lot in the eyes of those who were waiting to buy an iPhone 4 today.

The first and most important of them "falls" on the Cosmote company, which came with a very good offer with promotional prices and a 15% discount on the purchase of any terminal, but it had an ace up its sleeve: the sale of decoded terminals. For many, the mirage of a factory unlocked phone led them to the nearest Germanos/Cosmote store at 00:00 at night in the cold to purchase a brand new iPhone 4. The mirage "disappeared" as soon as people tried to activate the terminals with any other card than one from Cosmote because they noticed that the terminals were already coded in the Cosmote network and cannot be used with any other network for now. The answer from Cosmote was short and sweet: the problem will be solved next week, so for this weekend you will stay with coded phones.

I "blame" the second failure to those from Vodafone who kept their own customers in suspense for almost 3 months in order to disappoint them last night at 23:50 when they published the offer for the iPhone 4 terminal. 3 months of waiting to see that you are part of the network with the highest prices for iPhone terminals is something, something hard to "swallow" and I am sure that many Vodafone customers were very disappointed by the offer published last night. And if that wasn't enough, then let's talk about the "surprise accessory" offered by Vodafone to those who bought an iPhone 4: if at Cosmote customers had a 15% discount on the purchase of a terminal (discount that reached up to 100 € or more depending on the terminal), well at Vodafone those who bought an iPhone 4 received a cover that sticks to the back of the terminal.

My opinion is that neither of these 2 operators "turned out well" after this launch: Cosmote for the problem with coded phones and Vodafone for the very weak offer.

Of course, this is just my humble opinion.
