iPhone 4 hard to find in Romania. Is the demand 4 times higher than the supply?

The iPhone 4 is one of the most "hunted" devices worldwide, Apple registering this year a sales record in terms of iPhone 4 terminals. In the summer of this year, Apple had great problems in meeting the demand on the market, but starting with in October of this year, the company increased production, managing to cover almost all the demand. On the Romanian market, the iPhone 4 is selling very well and in compliance the financial newspaper the demand on the Romanian market would be 3-4 times higher than the offer. The information is based on the statement of a sales director from Vodafone Romania who says...

The fact that only now the iPhone is available at all operators created this very high expectation of customers. Why didn't it appear sooner? It's a worldwide inventory problem, in the sense that demand is greater than supply. The thing that I think makes it so desirable is the fact that around the phone it managed to build this status of "aspirational device", let's call it. The fact that the market is not flooded with it will create the same desire in the following years. It is very interesting that in all countries the level of the average salary does not even matter, the demand is very high: three to four times higher than the supply.

Vodafone just launched the iPhone 4 terminal 3 days ago, it had the highest prices on the market, it had few terminals in stores (around 10-20 per store in the province), reduced today the price to increase sales, but they declare that they cannot meet the demand. That article seems to be paid for by Vodafone because 90% of it is about Vodafone and its offer, so I could not say that it is 100% correct. If Vodafone sold only 4-500 terminals, it means that it still has almost 2000 people waiting, which is very, very hard to believe!

A correct opinion about the demand on the market could be given by Orange, which has been marketing the product for several months and has quite clear statistics regarding sales and the number of customers who are still waiting for an iPhone 4.
