1,5 million Windows Phone 7 terminals sold so far

More than 2 months after the release of Windows Phone 7 terminals, Microsoft announce the first official figures regarding the number of terminals sold so far. Only 1,5 million Windows Phone 7 terminals have been sold so far through the more than 60 operators from the more than 30 countries where the terminal is currently sold. The figure is unexpectedly small considering that there are 10 models of terminals with Windows Phone 7 on the market.

In contrast to the figures from Microsoft, Apple registered around 1.7 million pre-orders for iPhone 4 in just 3 days after their opening. The big difference between iPhone 4 and terminals with Windows Phone 7 lies in the fact that the first is a terminal with a mature operating system but also with a strong PR team behind it, and WP7 terminals have a new, immature operating system for which there is few applications and which for now not everyone wants to test.

In 2-3 years, Windows Phone 7 will become a truly competitive operating system, and Apple and Google will have to be much, much more careful about what they launch on the market.

REDMOND, Wash. – Dec. 21, 2010 – There is one phrase that Achim Berg uses repeatedly to describe the new Windows Phone 7.

Another is phone manufacturer sales – phones being bought and stocked by mobile operators and retailers on their way to customers. We are pleased that phone manufacturers sold over 1.5 million phones in the first six weeks, which helps build customer momentum and retail presence
