redsn0w 0.9.7 beta 2 available

The beta testing of the new untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 4.2.1 continues today with a new version of redsn0w that should solve some of the problems of the previous version. So far we know that redsn0w 0.9.7 blocks the Bluetooth function from iOS 4.2.1 and the iPod application only works on iPod Touch 4G for now.

The only novelty brought by redsn0w 0.9.7 beta 2 consists in solving the problems with running native iOS applications that closed automatically, but also solving the problems with the task switcher that did not work. The rest of the problems remain "active".

  • iPod player only works on ipt4g right now
  • Bluetooth currently disabled due to sandbox problem

The Dev Team recommends that you do a fresh restore before using this new version of redsn0w and I recommend that you do as they say otherwise you may find that the problems have not been solved.

The Dev Team emphasizes the fact that these beta versions are released as part of a public beta test, so they have bugs and will create problems, so they should only be used by people who know what they are doing and accept these "side effects".
