The Mac AppStore is a real success, earning tens of thousands of dollars for some developers

Apple yesterday launch Mac AppStore, today announce that a million applications have already been downloaded from it and with this announcement came the first information about the purchased applications. It seems that the applications of some developers had a great time success on the first day, one of these applications being Chopper 2 which sold almost 30.000 copies generating almost $30.000 in revenue. The application costs only $0.99, but Apple takes 30% of the proceeds, so the company developing the application will collect $20.000 after the first day of the Mac AppStore. Another favorite of the buyers was the Angry Birds application which, although it costs $3.99, generated over 30.000 purchases, occupying first place in the top of the most downloaded applications.

Riding the momentum of discounted pricing and an established fan base from the original Chopper for Mac and successful Chopper and chopper 2 games for iOS, Frampton tells us that chopper 2 for Mac saw nearly 30,000 copies purchased through the Mac App Store yesterday. Accounting for Apple's 30% cut of Mac App Store revenue means that Majic Jungle Software brought in a little over $20,000 yesterday.

Of course, these phenomenal figures do not apply to all the applications available in the AppStore, many of them generating medium to low revenues and this could be due to the too high prices. Mac owners are probably used to the low prices in the AppStore, so they probably overlooked certain applications due to the very high prices. In this idea, the developers have started today to reduce the prices for certain applications and probably the reductions will continue in the near future.

At the moment there are approximately 220 "paid" applications in the AppStore.
