Is Apple preparing a CDMA version of the iPad?

The iPhone 4 CDMA for the US Verizon network has been released today officially in a press conference organized by Verizon in New York and led by the president of the company together with Tim Cook, vice president of Apple. Following this launch, the online publication Bloomberg announces the fact that Apple would already produce a CDMA version of the iPad tablet that would also reach the Verizon operator in the US. Rumors regarding an iPad tablet compatible with CDMA networks appeared last month, but then we were talking about the iPad 2 tablet and the fact that it would come in 2 versions compatible with CDMA and GSM networks.

Verizon Wireless will sell a version of Apple Inc.'s iPad tablet computer that can connect directly to its network, posing another challenge to AT&T Inc. as the carrier's exclusive hold on the iPhone draws to a close.

Verizon will get an embedded chip in the iPad for use on its network, Francis Shammo, chief financial officer of Verizon Communications Inc., the parent of the wireless unit, said today in an interview in New York. IPad users currently need an extra device to connect to Verizon's network. Shammo declined to say when the change might happen.

From now on, we can expect anything from Apple, even from the signing of a contract with other CDMA or GSM operators in the US. For now, the iPad 2 tablet has fallen into a shadow cone, especially since no one has any information regarding the possible date for its launch.
