iPad 2 with proximity sensor?

In iOS 4.3 beta 1, quite a lot of information was found regarding the possible functions that future iDevices could have, but now a blog from Portugal found references announcing the possibility of implementing a proximity sensor in the iPad 2 tablet. It seems that this sensor could be activated/deactivated directly from the Settings application, but it is not known exactly what it will do. The iPhone terminals have a proximity sensor with which they block the screen when it is brought to the ear to avoid closing calls when the screen touches the face, but you all know how many problems the iPhone 4 had with these sensors.

The blog from Portugal claims that the proximity sensor would allow the automatic closing of the screen when it is covered and its reopening when it is uncovered, so the functionality is identical to that of the iPhone, but what would be the point? The iPad tablet does not allow the initiation of phone calls, and for reading books, watching videos or surfing the Internet, a proximity sensor is not needed. It is possible that these references are for a future tablet or are introduced just to confuse people looking for information through iOS.
