iPhone 5 could have dual-core processor

The year 2011 will start one revolution in the field of smartphones, because most manufacturers have chosen to implement dual-core processors in the products to be launched. LG and Motorola have already presented smartphones with dual-core processors at CES 2011 and Nokia, Samsung and HTC are expected to present devices with similar hardware at the upcoming Mobile World Conference in Barcelona. It is rumored that Apple could implement dual-core processors in iPad 2, the chip being called A5 and if the rumors are true then iPhone 5, iPod Touch 5G and the next generation of Apple TV will have the same type of processor.

Most major handset makers all plan to launch dual-core smartphones in 2011 as Nvidia, Qualcomm, Samsung Electronics, Texas Instruments (TI) and Broadcom have come out with dual-core platforms, according to industry sources. The requirement for stronger capability to manage multimedia functionality including 3D games and HD video has pushed handset vendors to develop dual-core processors, the sources asserted.

The main reason for the implementation of such powerful processors is of course the ability of these devices to run multimedia content. We are talking about movies in HD format, games like Infinity Blade or maybe Crysis, 3D content or who knows what other applications will be released next year. Smartphones are no longer just simple phones and the new technological revolution will bring us many more benefits than you can imagine. Apple uses processors produced by Samsung and it is expected that Samsung will announce its first devices with dual-core processors in February, followed by Apple announcing its own somewhere in the middle - end of next month.

We also have information about the implementation of dual-core processors from Engadget who a few weeks ago had published an article detailing information received from sources inside Apple. iPhone 5 will represent a complete redesign, so we can expect anything.
