iPad - the best-selling Apple product in the first year after its release

In the graph above we have present sales for 3 of the most popular products ever launched by Apple: iPhone, iPad and iPod. There we have listed the sales of these products in the first 3 quarters of the year after the official launch and you notice that the iPad tablet is by far the best-selling product according to this criterion. In 2001 Apple sold 236.000 iPods in the first 3 quarters of the year after launch, in 2007 it sold 3.7 million iPhone terminals and in 2010 it sold 14.8 million iPad tablets. The tablet was by far the best "received" product ever released by Apple, but I have the impression that the iPad 2 will not do as well.

Following the same idea of successful products, significantly more applications are bought from iTunes than movies or music, and what you see there marked in blue represents application sales. iDevices generate billions of dollars for Apple from application sales and the company probably pays more attention to the AppStore than to the iTunes Music/Video stores.
