Apple blocks the possibility of opening books protected by DRM with the iBooks application on jailbroken terminals

This morning I wrote an article in which explain the fact that comex discovered a method to solve the problem with the iBooks application that does not open certain books. In case you didn't know, Apple a released a new version of the iBooks application a few days ago and this new version detects if a phone is jailbroken and not allow opening books bought from iBookStore that are protected with DRM (digital rights management). This situation applies to most jailbroken terminals regardless of the program with which it was jailbroken and affects the books purchased from the iBookStore.

Since using the greenpois0n jailbreak, I have been unable to open some of my iBooks that I rightfully purchased from the iBook Store. I thought it was a problem with the downloaded books, so I re-downloaded them. That didn't work so I removed the iBooks from my iPhone and re-sync'd them from my computer... still no luck. Then I stumbled on a tweet from @comex tonight that really blew my mind.

Apparently, the new version of iBooks tries to run an unauthorized code and if it detects the jailbreak, it automatically closes the application. This is a method of those from Apple to block the access of those with jailbreak to legally purchased materials from the iBookStore, and probably few expected to have such an unpleasant surprise. comex found a method to solve the problem and we will probably have it available in the next jailbreak solution. My advice is not to update the iBooks application.
