Apple will donate a significant amount of money to build a hospital in Stanford

Apple, eBay, HP, Intel, Intuit and Oracle will contributes to the construction of a new hospital worth 2 billion dollars in the city of Stanford in Silicon Valley. The companies will be part of the Stanford Hospital Corporate Partners Program, will donate 150 million dollars in the next decade and will contribute to raising another 400 million dollars from private donations. Steve Jobs is a big supporter of the project and probably had a difficult word to say in the decision taken by the company's management to donate the sums of money for building the hospital.

Apple is not used to making such gestures, but considering Steve Jobs' battle with cancer, it is somewhat normal to see that his own company takes measures to help develop the US medical system.

Steve Jobs, chief executive of Apple, said "all of us are very fortunate to have Stanford's world-class medical center right here in Silicon Valley. We are very excited about the development of their new hospital and really want to support their plans."
