Engadget got their hands on a new generation MacBook Pro yesterday they did a small hands-on demo for Thunderbolt technology implemented by Apple. Initially Intel wanted to call this technology Light Peak, but the collaboration with Apple prompted them to rename it to Thunderbolt and Apple is the first laptop manufacturer to implement it in its own products. The LaCie company had access to the development process of this new technology and the LaCie Little Big Disk is the first product to implement Thunderbolt technology and in the clip above we have a demonstration of how to transfer files from LaCie Little Big Disk on a MacBook Pro.

In the clip above we are shown the speed with which files are transferred between 2 products with Thunderbolt technology implemented, and you notice that a 4.5 GB file is transferred in a few seconds to the MacBook Pro at speeds that reach 700MB/s. Moreover, with this technology, streaming and copying of files can be done without the slightest problem at speeds of up to 600MB/s. The technology is amazing, Apple is privileged because it was the first manufacturer to implement it in its own products, but until others with the same technology appear, you will not be able to use it to its true potential.
