Gameloft signs a partnership with Epic Games, will use Unreal Engine 3 in games

Gameloft and Epic Games recently concluded a Partnership through which Gameloft will use the Unreal 3 graphics engine for 4 games that will be released until the end of 2012. In general, Epic Games asks for a share of the revenues of the games made using the graphics engine developed by the company, so I assume that in the case of Gameloft this commission was negotiated considering that Gameloft's games are among the best-selling in the AppStore. At the moment, Unreal 3 is the most advanced graphics engine for iOS, Infinity Blade being the only game in the AppStore based on it. Gameloft could use this graphic engine for game development and for other platforms, but there is no clear information in this sense for now.

"Gameloft is very pleased to partner with Epic, especially with their ability to stay ahead of the curve and continually place the best game engine technology in developers' hands at any given point in time," said VP of production at Gameloft, Julien Fournials. Using Unreal Engine 3 allows us to push game visuals with remarkable lighting and high-fidelity environments.”

I for one am delighted with this partnership because Gameloft makes very good games in terms of gameplay but not so great in terms of graphics. I hope that the new titles will amaze and will more than likely generate enough income.
