Mac OS X Lion brings Safari based on Webkit 2 which is much safer and faster

I already told you that Mac OS X Lion will bring a new version of Safari and according to the MacRumours, this new version of Safari is built on webkit 2, a new browser platform built specifically by Apple, which is much safer and faster. Those who have so far tested the new version of Mac OS X Lion and implicitly the new version of Safari confirm that Safari works much better, it is much faster and now if a certain page causes problems then only the tab with that page will be affected and not the whole browser.

WebKit2 is a new API layer for WebKit designed from the ground up to support a split process model, where the web content (JavaScript, HTML, layout, etc) lives in a separate process from the application UI. This model is very similar to what Google Chrome offers, with the major difference being that we have built the process split model directly into the framework, allowing other clients of WebKit to use it.

Unfortunately, the new version of Safari will be available only after the release of Mac OS X Lion, that is, somewhere in the summer of this year at the earliest.
