Every year the Develop Awards takes place, a conference where the big names of the game development industry are awarded for their success in the last year. This year Rovio Mobile, the developers of the famous Angry Birds series, were nominated there are no less than 3 awards and I think their presence there is more than justified. Angry Birds turned from a game into a social phenomenon, virtual barriers were overcome by manufacturing toys, t-shirts, accessories, etc., Angry Birds is an internationally recognized brand.
In this idea, Rovio Mobile was nominated for the following 3 awards: Best Use of a License or IP, Best Indie Studio, Best Handheld Studio. The conference will take place on July 20 in Great Britain and I think Rovio deserves at least 1 award for the way it has changed the gaming industry for mobile platforms.
