Samsung Galaxy S II and battery autonomy

The Samsung Galaxy S II is the first true rival of the iPhone 4 terminal, in fact a rival is an understatement because in terms of hardware it is superior to the Apple terminal. Those from gsmarena they did some tests to determine the battery life of the new smartphone recently launched by Samsung, and in the following I will detail their findings. They did a series of tests, but the most important from my point of view is the mixed text, that is, a test in which they used the terminal for various tasks to see how long the battery lasts. Here's what they used it for and how long the battery lasted:

  • 90 minutes – played videos/films;
  • 2 hours of listening to music;
  • 40 minutes of voice calls;
  • 30 minutes of GPS navigation;
  • 30 minutes of using the UI;
  • 10 minutes of internet browsing;
  • 10 minutes of recording videos and taking pictures
  • 20 minutes to play Angry Birds

Total time: 350 minutes, that is 5 hours and 50 minutes.

The Samsung Galaxy S II has a 4.3-inch screen that is responsible for almost half of the energy consumption, it has a dual-core chip and a 1650 mAh battery, 250 mAh more than the iPhone. Its autonomy in everyday use seems to me a little weak compared to the iPhone 4 which lasts as long or maybe more if we don't use Push notifications. In web browsing tests, the Samsung Galaxy S II lasted only 4 hours regardless of the browser used, but the iPhone 4 lasts up to 7 hours of constant browsing, according to test also made by gsmarena. In terms of playing video clips, the Samsung Galaxy S II reaches 8 hours of autonomy, long enough to watch a few episodes of your favorite series.

According to gsmarena's tests, the Samsung Galaxy S II doesn't seem that impressive in terms of battery autonomy, but I'm waiting to see other tests of this kind.
