A team of Russian researchers developed a program that decrypts iDevice backups

iOS 4 brought iDevice owners the ability to encrypt backup data using iTunes. Apple was proud of this system that would have blocked the attempts of any person to access the data saved in a backup from our computer. A team of researchers from a company that develops software for Russian forensics managed to find a method to easily decrypt any iPhone backup. They made a program that uses both the processor and the graphics card to decrypt data from a backup. The problem is that to do the decryption you need not only the backup but also the phone because the program is based on the UDID of the terminal and other identifying data of it to do the respective decryption.

Decryption is not possible without having access to the actual device because we need to obtain the encryption keys that are stored in (or computed by) the device and are not dumped or stored during typical physical acquisition,

Elcomsoft Phone Password Breaker it's called the new program that helps decrypt data and can be bought by anyone. It is available in 2 versions: one for home users that costs €79 and a professional one that costs €200. No matter which one you choose, you will be able to decrypt a backup without problems, but remember that you also need a terminal to do the process.
