Samsung's CEO denies infringing Apple's patents

You already know that Apple sued Samsung for infringing some patents and copying the design of some products. Apple received the consent of an American court to see prototypes of the Galaxy series from Samsung, but those from Samsung made a request by which they hope to get access to iPhone 5 and iPad 3 prototypes of Apple. Until Samsung gets access to those prototypes, the CEO of the company gave an interview to the publication Wall Street Journal in which he talks about the processes in which "the 2 companies are caught". He claims that processes it does not represent a legal problem for Samsung, but there is a chance that things will become more complicated in the future. He also denies that Samsung would have copied the design of Apple products, motivating his answer by the fact that Samsung would have used similar designs in the past.

We didn't copy Apple's design," Mr. Shin said. "We have used many similar designs over the past years and it [Apple's allegation] will not be legally problematic." He suggested the scale of the lawsuit could grow, although he did not provide more details.

Android is the fastest-growing platform and the market direction is headed towards Android so we're riding the wave," added Younghee Lee, senior vice president of sales and marketing. Samsung also aims to differentiate itself from Apple and other tablet makers by continuing to offer various sizes, Mr. Shin said.

Although the 2 companies have lawsuits pending in the American courts, they collaborate in terms of the production of iDevices and things will not change soon. Before the filing of the lawsuit by Apple, there would have been a negotiation for a contract between the 2 companies, but everything was completed with the process that is now underway. The Samsung Galaxy S II is starting to become more popular than the iPhone 4 and it will be interesting to see how Apple will approach the problem in the future.
