WWDC 2011, iOS 5, unlock and iPad 2

Everyone is now focused on WWDC 2011 and the new products that Apple is going to present there, but no one is talking about what will happen with jailbreak and decoding solutions. Last year, the Dev Team released an unlock solution for iOS 4 on the very evening when Apple released the new version of the operating system. Last year, the Dev Team had time to "play" with the beta versions of iOS 4, decoded the baseband from the GM version, and on the evening of the iOS 4 release, it also released the decoding solution that millions of people were waiting for.

This year the situation will be completely different because iOS 5 will not be released until (at least) a month after the presentation at WWDC 2011. After the presentation of iOS 5 at WWDC 2011 it is very possible that Apple will release the first beta version of the operating system and it is very possible that in these weeks we will have a jailbreak solution for iPad 2. iOS 5 will surely work with iPad 2, even if not from the very beginning, and if the exploit available in iOS 4.3.3 will not be available and in iOS 5 then the Dev Team or Chronic Dev Team will have nothing else to do but to finish the jailbreak solution and launch it.

Regarding decoding, I am sure that only after the official release of iOS 5 we could have a new unlock solution. The Dev Team will not release an unlock solution now, even if it has one, because it would throw a perfectly usable baseband exploit out the window. This year a lot will change, but regarding the release of iOS 5, it cannot take place earlier than July because the application developers have to test the beta versions of the new operating system.
