Apple could build fireproof iDevices

If we put an iPhone or an iPad tablet on fire, the device will mostly melt, considering the composition of the materials from which our terminals are built. Apple has development plans a method that would prevent burn our devices as a result of possible short-circuiting of the cables connecting the internal components. The solution from Apple consists in the development of a new type of flame retardant resin without halogen in its composition. In the event of a fire, the materials made of this resin would not catch fire, so practically we would have an almost completely fireproof device in our pocket.

Apple's proposed invention provides halogen-free flame retardants, resins that include halogen free flame retardants, and plastic components made from such materials. In some embodiments, the invention relates to a composite resin molded article having excellent flame retardancy, electrical insulation properties, and crack resistance, and produces only negligible amounts of toxic substances during incineration, if any at all.

Of course, it is a long way from the development of a patent to the construction of components that are truly fireproof, but Apple is thinking about how to improve the devices it sells. From my point of view, their solution could definitely be used in a marketing strategy for the promotion of burn-resistant iDevices, the problem is that the final result should meet expectations.
