Last night I have you plowing the first video clip in which the future Skype application for iPad was presented and last night those from cNet they had the opportunity to test the new application. They claim that the Skype application for iPad will be available in the App Store starting from Tuesday, but thanks to the people from Skype, they had the opportunity to test it yesterday. In the article published last night, those from cNet presented the results obtained during the tests made for the new application. In short, on the iPad you will only be able to see a video connection, on the iPad 2 you will be able to video chat with anyone, a Wi-Fi connection will ensure very good image quality and a 3G connection will bring long and frequent blockages.

During our preliminary tests today, we made calls over Wi-Fi to an iPhone 4 (3G) and to Skype on a desktop computer with a hard line. Wi-Fi video calling to the desktop produced the best quality on both ends, with high image resolution and video that was mostly smooth; there was only a slight delay. During a call, our friends noticed almost no difference in video quality when we switched between the front- and rear-facing iPad 2 cameras; they told us that both images had sharp edges and nothing looked particularly blurred.

The application's interface has been redone to offer users a more pleasant experience both during video calls and instant messaging sessions. Those from cNet say that during a video call the keyboard covers a good part of the screen, so you won't be able to write messages in the chat window without hiding half of your interlocutor's video feed. The contacts menu has been redone in the iPad application, it displays more information and borrows some features of the iTunes album view.

In conclusion, on Tuesday we will have Skype for iPad in the App Store and then we will know more about how the application works.
