Apple's board of directors is considering replacing Steve Jobs as the company's CEO

Tonight the Wall Street Journal they published an article presenting the intentions of several members of Apple's board of directors regarding the fate of Steve Jobs. Apparently certain members of the board of directors believe that Steve Jobs should be replaced as CEO and in this idea they have already met with members of companies specialized in finding employees aka headhunters. These intentions come after the extended leave that Steve Jobs took in the winter of this year, officially interrupted only for the Apple conferences on March 2 and June 6.

Since Steve Jobs went on medical leave this winter, some members of Apple Inc.'s board have discussed CEO succession with executive recruiters and at least one head of a high-profile technology company, according to people familiar with the matter.

The conversations weren't explicitly aimed at recruiting a new chief executive and were more of an informal exploration of the company's options, said these people. The directors do not appear to have been acting on behalf of the full board, some of these people said. Apple has seven directors, including Mr. Jobs. It is also unclear whether Mr. Jobs was aware.

The interesting part is that Steve Jobs has already responded to the Wall Street Journal saying that all these statements are untrue. Steve Jobs is actively involved in the management of the Apple company, although Tim Cook is officially the interim CEO, so theoretically there should be no cause for concern, especially since Apple is doing better and better. It would not be hard to believe a departure of Steve Jobs from the "helm" of the Apple company, considering that this happened once before, but Apple has such good results at the moment that this article seems just an intention to destabilize the company.
