Adobe revises its claims, announces that Apple has not blocked support for hardware acceleration

Yesterday Adobe announce Mac owners like Apple would have blocked hardware acceleration for flash and Adobe applications in Mac OS X Lion. Of course, the announcement sparked a wave of controversy among Mac owners who use Adobe's software in their daily lives. Although Adobe talked about a very wide range of applications that will no longer have support for hardware acceleration due to Apple's, during the night the company reviewed the statements and announced that Mac OS X Lion does not block graphics acceleration and that everything will work the same as in Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

The final release of Mac OS X Lion (10.7) provides the same support for Flash hardware video acceleration as Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6). The previous "Known Issue" described in a tech note suggesting that video hardware acceleration was disabled in Lion was incorrect and based on tests with a pre-release version of Mac OS X Lion that related to only one particular Mac GPU configuration.

It seems that Adobe hastened to point the finger at Apple, but the mistake was theirs because they did not properly investigate the new operating system. The company announced that it will work with Apple to solve any problems encountered by users, but also to improve the experience of using flash content and Adobe products in Mac OS X Lion.
