The US has one of the strongest medical systems in the world and it seems that the administration led by President Obama wants to bring technology to the doctors by offering substantial contributions to the doctors. DrChrono is an application for the iPad tablet that eases the work of doctors to keep the medical records of patients or to make invoices and thanks to it a doctor can collect 44.000 dollars from the American government. The Washington government will issue an ordinance announcing the offering of $44.000 to all doctors who use the DrChrono application to keep their patients' medical records.

The government is encouraging doctors to go digital and the iPad is a natural fit in the medical space. It was a thrilling experience to be the first company to use an iPad during the Meaningful Use certification process.

You are probably wondering what motivates those in the American government to issue such a directive. Well, it all boils down to economics and it is estimated that approximately 80 billion dollars will be saved annually by switching to an electronic system for keeping patients' medical records. The $44.000 will be received by the doctors over a period of 5 years, so they will have money to buy more iPad tablets and completely give up the use of paper to make an invoice or write down a patient's data.

Of course, the DrChrono application is compatible to write after dictation, to take pictures from the Photos application and to play video clips, so practically a doctor can save any kind of information for his patient very simply and easily. It is hard to say how successful this initiative will be, but electronically saved data is much easier to find and store, and this is a first step towards limiting the effects of bureaucracy.
