The iPhone is the favorite device of Americans who surf the Internet during a plane trip

The ones from Allthingsdigital announce that two-thirds of airline passengers transiting the USA use an iPhone to surf the Internet on the plane. The information comes from the company gogo air, which offers internet services on American planes and which announces that iDevices are mainly used for internet browsing. In addition to the iPhone, iPod Touches still account for 20% of all Internet users, while Android accounts for only 12% and BlackBerry devices for only 6%.

The iPad tablet was not taken into account in these statistics because it is classified as a computer, but if it had been included then it would probably have gathered a percentage close to that of the iPod Touches. In the US, to surf the Internet during a plane trip, you have to pay an 8$ fee for smartphones and a 13$ fee for computers, so probably few people use a laptop or an iPad tablet during air travel.
