Facebook Messenger available in the App Store, hides a function for video conferences

During the last night Facebook has launched in the App Store the Facebook Messenger application, an extension of the Facebook application for iOS, which allows owners of iOS and Android devices to send messages to friends on Facebook and beyond. The new application allows users to send text messages to all contacts in the address book, but they must have the application installed. If one of your Facebook friends is not added to the phone book, then you can send a message directly to your Facebook account using this application. Finally, we have the possibility to send pictures to all our friends. Basically Facebook makes a service similar to iMessage which will probably attract quite a lot of users.

You can unload Free Facebook Messenger from the US App Store for now.

Facebook makes a habit of not properly hiding new and unavailable functions of newly launched applications, and I found this out for the first time when the application Facebook for iPad has been discovered in the iPhone application. Now Facebook has hidden inside the Facebook Messenger app a interface which allows making video calls with our friends and the new service works even with the Android platform. This function gives those at Facebook a great advantage over iMessage or other similar services, and because we are talking about a social networking site with over 700 million users, you can be sure that it will be successful.
