Apple starts selling USB sticks for installing Mac OS X Lion

It has been rumored for a few days that Apple will sell USB sticks that allow the installation of Mac OS X Lion on Macs that do not have an Internet connection, and this has happened. This morning the company added to its online store the new product which can be purchased for $69 in the US and €59 in Europe. The price for Europeans is of course 12€ higher than the one in the USA, but I assume that you are already used to the way Apple understands to do a euro-dollar conversion for all the products in its stores.

OS X Lion is available on a USB thumb drive for installation without the need for a broadband Internet connection. Just plug the drive into your USB port and follow the instructions to install. OS X Lion is also available for a lower price as a digital download from the Mac App Store.

This USB stick allows access to the Recovery System from Mac OS X Lion and allows installation/reinstallation of the operating system without much effort. For the amount paid, you will receive the operating system worth $30 and the price difference covers the USB stick, labor and the "pride" of owning a USB stick with Mac OS X Lion. Of course, these USB sticks are not yet available in Romania, but I assume that in the future authorized resellers will bring them and the prices will most likely be between 250-300 RON.

If you don't want to buy a USB stick, then you can buy Mac OS X Lion directly from the Mac App Store for €23.99.
