Apple hires engineers specialized in 4G LTE networks

The Apple company seems to be very determined to implement LTE technology in its own terminals and recently published a job offer in which it specifies the fact that it is interested in hiring engineers specialized in various telecommunications standard networks, including the 4G LTE standard. The new employee of the Apple company will have the role of interacting directly with the employees of the mobile phone operators in order to implement as well as possible the new telecommunications standards in the iDevices that Apple is going to launch on the market.

The role will require the following skills:

Expert knowledge of one or multiple cellular technologies: WCDMA/UMTS, HSPA, HSPA+, CDMA/1x, EVDO, LTE, etc. Strong analytical skills and hands-on experience of troubleshooting complicated NW and/or UE issues, expert knowledge of L1-3 protocols and best practice procedures on live NW. Experience with NW planning and optimization highly desired. Protocol development in C/C++ for UE/NW and scripting experience (PERL, Python) a major plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. BSEE/CS or technical degree with relevant experience, and 5+ years of experience in a technical role.

I say iDevices and not just iPhone terminals because Apple is interested in implementing the new technology in iPad tablets and if the rumors are true then iPod Touch terminals will also have 3G/LTE connectivity in the future. The intentions of those from Apple are good, but it would be better if in Romania the mobile phone operators hurried to improve their 3G/3G+ infrastructure and then the 4G/LTE one. I for one believe that in Romania an iPhone compatible with LTE networks will only be useful in 3-4 years and probably only in Bucharest.
