In a recent interview at a technology conference, Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google, stated that Steve Jobs is probably the best CEO of a company in the last 50 years. Schmidt was a member of Apple's board of directors at the time when the first iPhone was in development, but he left shortly after the launch of the terminal and shortly before Android was launched by Google. Schmidt and Jobs were and probably still are good friends, so the statements of the former CEO of Google are not at all surprising.

What Steve has done at Apple is certainly the best performance of a CEO for over fifty years, maybe a hundred years. But not only did he do it once, he did it twice. We've all benefited from the tremendous innovation at Apple. And I say this as a very proud former board member at Apple.

Although friends, Schmidt and Jobs led 2 companies that waged a "deaf" war for supremacy on the smartphone market and in the end Google with its Android managed to exceed everyone's expectations. There will be praise for Steve Jobs, but the important thing is that he continues his work within the company and we see many more Apple products launched under his leadership.
