Apple could reveal the sales recorded by the iPad/iPad 2 in the USA and Great Britain

In case you have forgotten, Apple has a lawsuit pending before an Australian court to ban the sale of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet. So far, the company has not managed to obtain any favorable decision from the court, but in order to have a victory, the company from Cupertino may have to to reveal the sales recorded by iPad and iPad 2 in the USA and Great Britain. The measure was not imposed (although Samsung initially requested this) by an Australian judge who still wants to see to what extent the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in Australia will affect sales, the company being forced to disclose such data for the first time.

Apple's claim that the Samsung tablet's release in Australia will hurt iPad sales may carry little weight if it doesn't provide the numbers, Federal Court Justice Annabelle Bennett said in Sydney Federal Court today. "Unless Apple puts on evidence showing the impact in the US or UK, I can't draw any positive assumptions," Bennett said. Bennett said she would not force Apple to release the sales numbers and denied Samsung's request for them.

Apple has always had a fairly transparent policy regarding its sales and will probably present the figures recorded to date in front of the Australian court. I think that Apple is willing to do everything necessary to block the launch of Samsung's tablet on the market, and I think that it is willing to make even more sacrifices to achieve this. Samsung has not presented sales figures for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 until now, and probably won't because of the tablet's low popularity.
