Video: How I changed the hard drive of a Mac Mini

Week I was telling you that my Mac Mini's performance is limited by the 5400 RPM Hitachi hard drive that Apple thinks it must implement in its products. Also then I told you that I intend to change that slow HDD with an SSD, which I did yesterday following the video clip above. I bought one set of screwdrivers from here but you only need T6 and T9 to change everything. After 15 minutes of unscrewing and removing components, I had the Mac back in place, functional and installing Mac OS X lion on This SSD.

The procedure is simple, any person who has taken apart a PC is capable of doing it and you only need a little skill and patience. I chose to install the SSD myself because I simply wanted to do it and because at Noumax the operation takes 2 hours and costs 200 lei, and at iStyle I was dissatisfied with the fact that the employees do not respond to emails related to the operation, which someone from their PR should solve it before they embarrass themselves even more. Having said that, for only 12 lei I changed the HDD of my Mac Mini and for now everything works without the slightest problem. I want to mention that I replaced the old HDD with the SSD at the moment because I couldn't find a SATA cable for the Mac Mini, so I stayed with the Mac only with the SSD.

In terms of performance, read/write speeds have increased 4 times, access times have decreased accordingly and everything works as correctly and quickly as possible. If you have a Mac at home, I recommend changing its HDD with an SSD and you will see how much time you have wasted waiting for tasks in recent years.

PS: Thanks to john for the video clip above.
