Apple releases iTunes 10.5 beta 9

Just a few days before the conference for the presentation of iOS 5 and iPhone 5, Apple releases version 10.5 beta 9 of iTunes, the program that allows developers of iOS applications to install the new operating system. The new version of iTunes brings improvements to the way songs are sent to iTunes through the iTunes Match service, so practically everything is useless for Romania for now. Although Apple launched iTunes Music Store yesterday in Romania, however, iTunes Match is currently unavailable in Europe.

iOS application developers can download iTunes 10.5 beta 9 from their own account created in the Apple portal dedicated to developers. This new release does not indicate that the GM version of iOS 5 will be released before October 4th! Here's what's new in iTunes 10.5 beta 9 for developers:

  • "Scan and match" feature is not yet complete. Some users' tracks may not be recognized by iTunes Match even if the tracks are available in the iTunes Store, and those tracks will be uploaded to the users' iCloud storage. Some tracks may also be mis-matched to a different version of the same song on the iTunes Store.
  • Music can only be added to iCloud from one computer at a time.
  • Updating an iOS device to iOS 5 beta 7 may result in music failing to play. Users should turn off iTunes Match in settings and then turn it back on to restore functionality.
