Vodafone offers free internet in the Bucharest metro

A few days ago I was telling you exclusively as Orange offers free internet to all subscribers traveling by metro through Bucharest. Today, Vodafone makes exactly the same announcement just a week away, taking over the model from Orange Romania. I for one am happy to see that in Romania competition generates good things and I expect a similar announcement from Cosmote in the following weeks. I didn't expect Vodafone to react so quickly, but I'm glad it did.

Bucharest, November 9, 2011 – Starting today, Vodafone offers all its users free access to the Internet in the stations and tunnels of the Bucharest metro. All Vodafone customers who have activated an Internet option - subscribers, users of cards or other data services - benefit from free access to the Internet, via phone, laptop or tablet. Users who have not activated an Internet option can do so very easily, through a simple free call to *NET#. The free services provided by Vodafone are based on a 3G/HSDPA solution that allows users easy and fast access to the mobile Internet. Switching to a free browsing session is done automatically, without requiring the modification of Internet access settings. Users return to a session with a normal data rate, near the exit from the metro stations.

If you do not have an active internet option on your Vodafone card, then you do not automatically have free internet access, but you must make a call to *NET#. I hope that in the future the competition will give rise to other equally beneficial projects for users.
