Apple is hiring engineers to improve the voice command recognition system in Siri

Siri, the personal assistant in iPhone 4S, is currently available in beta version for users and I explained here why. For now, only a few languages are officially supported by Siri, but Apple intends to to expand compatibility with other dialects around the world. In order to speed up this process, Apple is looking to hire engineers who will deal exclusively with the implementation of support for several new languages in Siri, and of course we are not talking about the Romanian language, but much more widely used ones.

We are looking for an engineer to join the team that implements the UI for Siri. You will primarily be responsible for implementing the conversation view and its many different actions. This includes defining a system that enables a dialog to appear intuitive, a task that involves many subtle UI behaviors in a dynamic, complex system. You will have several clients of your code, so the ability to formulate and support a clear API is needed.

On its website, Apple promises that next year it will extend the compatibility of the Siri assistant to other languages around the world, but until then the company is hiring more people to take over the workload behind this goal. I don't know when Siri will be compatible with the Romanian language, but I hope that maybe at the end of next year we can ask Siri what the weather is like in Bucharest and he will give an answer in Romanian. Until then, you can talk to Siri in English, French or German.
